Description:
Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF-21) is a member of the fibroblast growth factor family and has been identified as an important regulator of energy metabolism connecting nutrition, growth, reproduction and longevity. FGF-21 lacks the heparin-binding domain of most FGF proteins, allowing its secretion. FGF-21 is abundantly expressed in adipose tissues, liver and pancreas. In adipose tissue, FGF-21 promotes glucose uptake and oxidation and in liver it replenishes on fasting the tissues with fuel on low nutritional supply. It also induces lipolysis and ketogenesis. FGF-21 acts through FGF receptors (FGFR) associated with the auxiliary protein beta-Klotho. Recently, FGF-21 has been reported to interact directly with the brain circadian clock to coordinate activity and reproduction as part of the adaptation to fasting. Due to its multiple functions of normalizing glucose, lipid and energy homeostasis, FGF-21 represents an attractive novel therapy for type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity.

Description:
The adipocytokine resistin which belongs to a family of cysteine-rich C-terminal proteins known as resistin-like molecules (RELM; RELMalpha/FIZZ 1 and RELMbeta/FIZZ 2) of FIZZ (found in inflammatory zone) are thought to be involved in inflammatory processes. Previous studies in mice showed that resistin impairs glucose tolerance and insulin action. In addition, resistin also inhibits adipogenesis in murine 3T3-L1 cells. Therefore resistin has also been proposed as an adipocyte-secreted factor thought to link obesity and T2DM.

Description:
Cell permeable dimeric dilactone macrolide. Cytotoxic compound. Specific actin filament (F-actin) inhibitor. Disrupts the actin cytoskeleton by sequestering actin dimers and rapidly severing actin filaments (F-actin). Depolymerizes actin filaments (F-actin). Antifungal. Apoptosis inducer. Alterates the actin cytoskeleton of GH4 cells and inhibits insulin-increased prolactin gene transcription.

Description:
Human CD26 is a T cell activation antigen which can be associated with costimulation. The significance of the dipeptidyl peptidase IV activity remains unknown. Characterization of adenosine deaminase binding to CD26 suggests an important immunoregulatory role. Soluble CD26 serum levels are predictive for colorectal cancer.

Description:
Human CD69 is expressed by platelets and mature thymocytes and appears rapidly after activation on T cells, B cells and NK cells. This pattern of cellular CD69 expression has suggested a lymphocyte activation role. Functional studies with antibodies to CD69 also support an activation role for CD69.

Description:
Potent and selective PYK2 inhibitor. PF-4618433 shows improved PYK2 potency, reduced p38 activity, and superior overall selectivity relative to the prototype BIRB796. In the functional osteogenesis assays, cultures treated with increasing concentrations of PF-4618433 starting at day 1 and maintained throughout showed a dose-dependent increases in both alkaline phosphatase activity and mineralization.
