Description:
Induces neuritogenesis. Potent and selective irreversible proteasome inhibitor. Specifically inhibits 20S proteasome (MCP; multicatalytic complex). Blocks proteasome activity by targeting the catalytic beta-subunit. Apoptosis inducer. Anticancer compound. Upregulates HSP70 and HSP22. Induces differentiation and inhibits cell cycle progression in several tumor cell lines. Inhibits NF-kappaB activation by inhibiting IkappaB degradation. Cathepsin A inhibitor. beta-Secretase activity inhibitor. Anti-adipogenic. Autophagy inducer.

Description:
Selective inhibitor of COX−1. Resveratrol is a phenolic phytoalexin found in grape skin and other plants. It has intracellular antioxidant activity and activates SIRT1, a NAD+-dependent histone deacetylase involved in mitochondrial biogenesis and the enhancement of peroxisome proliferator-gamma-activated receptor coactivator-1alpha (PGC-1alpha) and FOXO activity. The anti-diabetic, neuroprotective and anti-adipogenic actions of resveratrol may be mediated via SIRT1 activation.

Description:
ADH6 (alcohol dehydrogenase 6), also known as ADH-5, is a 368 amino acid member of the class V zinc-containing alcohol dehydrogenase family. This family of enzymes functions to metabolize a wide variety of substrates such as retinol, hydroxysteroids, ethanol, aliphatic alcohols and lipid peroxidation products. Localized to the cytoplasm and expressed in the stomach and liver, ADH6 catalyzes the reversible oxidation of alcohols to their corresponding aldehydes or ketones and is able to bind two zinc ions as cofactors. ADH6 contains a glucocorticoid response element upstream of its 5' UTR which is thought to be a steroid binding site, suggesting that expression of ADH6 may be under hormonal control. Multiple isoforms of ADH6 exist due to alternative splicing events.

Description:
The alcohol dehydrogenase family of proteins metabolize a wide variety of substrates, including retinol, hydroxysteroids, ethanol, aliphatic alcohols and lipid peroxidation products. ADH5 (alcohol dehydrogenase 5 (class III)), also known as FDH (formaldehyde dehydrogenase), ADHX, ADH-3 or GSNOR, is a 374 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that belongs to the class III subfamily of alcohol dehydrogenases. Expressed ubiquitously, ADH5 uses iron as a cofactor to catalytically oxidize both long-chain primary alcohols and S-hydroxymethyl-glutathione, a product formed spontaneously between formaldehyde and glutathione. ADH5 exists as a homodimer and, via its ability to oxidize S-hydroxymethyl-glutathione and, thus, eliminate formaldehyde, functions as an important component of cellular metabolism. Genetic variations in the gene encoding ADH5 may affect drug and alcohol dependence in humans.

Description:
BX795 was initially developed as a PDK1 inhibitor (direct competitive inhibitor IC(50) 11nM for PDK1) and has been shown to be a potent and relatively specific inhibitor of TBK1 and IKK-epsilon. It blocks the phosphorylation, nuclear translocation, and transcriptional activity of interferon regulatory factor 3. BX795 also is a potent inhibitor of cell growth of multiple cancer cell lines with IC(50) values ranging from submicromolar amounts (0.368µM to greater than 450µM.

Description:
SGX523 is an ATP-competitive, triazolopyridazine-based inhibitor of MET at an IC(50) of 4nM. SGX523 has higher affinity for the unphosphorylated form of MET (Ki = 2.7nM) than the more active phospho-enzyme (Ki = 23nM). In a broad panel of 213 kinases, SGX523 was extremely selective, with no inhibition >36%, suggesting IC(50) values > 1µM, including the closely-associated RON kinase.
