Description: Murine CD38, a type II transmembrane glycoprotein, is a bifunctional ectoenzyme capable of catabolizing nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) to cyclic ADP-ribose (cADPR), and then hydrolyzing cADPR to adenosine diphosphoribose (ADPR). It is expressed at high levels on the surface of peripheral B-lineage cells and at low density on germinal center B cells from unimmunized mice. It has also been reported to be expressed at moderate levels on NK cells, a proportion of peripheral T cells, and a subpopulation of thymocytes which are mostly TCRαβ+, CD4-, CD8-. Murine CD38 is also expressed by all Mac-1+ macrophages in the peritoneal cavities of unimmunized mice but not by unstimulated bone-marrow-derived macrophages. Monoclonal antibodies to CD38 have been shown to induce B and T cell proliferation, protect B cells from apoptosis, and inhibit B lymphopoiesis.

Description: CD69, also known as very early activation (VEA) antigen, is a disulfide-linked transmembrane homodimer whose differentially glycosylated subunits range from 35-39 kDa. It is a C-type lectin most closely related to the NKR-P1 and Ly-49 NK cell-activation molecules. CD69 is widely expressed on hematopoietic cells, including lymphocytes, neutrophils and eosinophils. Although not detectable on resting lymphocytes, its expression is rapidly upregulated upon activation of T, B and NK cells, and neutrophils. Constitutive expression of CD69 on subsets of thymocytes suggests that it may be involved in regulation of developmental events in addition to its role in activation of a variety of hematopoietic cells. Description: The “classical” MHC Class I molecules are histocompatibility antigens encoded by the H-2 gene complex and consist of heterodimers of highly polymorphic α chains noncovalently associated with the invariant β2-microglobulin. These antigens are expressed on most nucleated cells but expression varies on different cell types. The monoclonal antibody 28-14-8 binds to the α3 domain of H-2Db in the presence or absence of β2 microglobulin. The antibody has been shown to block H-2Ld-specific and H-2Ld-restricted antigen-specific lysis of target cells by cytotoxic T lymphocytes but it does not block recognition of H-2Ld-positive target cells by Ly-6G2-positive NK cells.
