Supplier:  Southern Biotechnology
Description:   CD18 represents the common β2 integrin subunit that associates non-covalently with the α/β chains of CD11a, CD11b, and CD11c to form various integrin heterodimers. It is expressed strongly on lymphocytes and monocytes and weakly on granulocytes. CD18 mediates a variety of heterotypic and homotypic intercellular adhesion reactions and it regulates the ligand-binding activates of the various CD11/CD18 complexes. The monoclonal antibody C71/16 has not been reported to inhibit cell adhesion.

Description:   CD11b, the integrin αM subunit, combines with CD18, the integrin β2 subunit, to form the integrin Mac-1, also known as complement receptor 3 (CR3), which mediates adhesion to C3bi and ICAM-1/CD54. Mac-1 is expressed at varying levels on granulocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, NK cells, and B-1 cells in the peritoneal and pleural cavities. Mac-1 expression is rapidly up-regulated on neutrophils after activation and in the same time period that CD62L is shed from the cell surface. In addition to its role in binding C3bi on opsonized targets and mediation of the subsequent ingestion process, Mac-1 is important as an adhesion molecule in the transendothelial migration of monocytes and neutrophils. Cross-reaction of M1/70 to human CD11b has been observed on monocytes, polymorphonuclear leukocytes, and NK cells.

Description:   CD44 represents a family of type I transmembrane glycoproteins expressed on many cell types such as B cells, monocytes, macrophages, and variable subsets of thymocytes and peripheral T cells. CD44 primarily functions as an adhesion molecule. It has been implicated in various processes, such as hematopoiesis, lymphocyte homing, leukocyte activation, tumor metastasis and development. The KM201 monoclonal antibody reacts with an epitope very close to the hyaluronate binding domain on the CD44 molecule. KM201 can inhibit hyaluronate-dependent cell aggregation, prevent lympho-hemopoiesis in both Dexter and Whitlock-Witte cultures, prevent the earliest intrathymic precursors from homing to the thymus, and costimulate the activation of freshly purified splenic CD4+ T cells.

Description:   In the mouse, CD8 exists in two forms – (i) a CD8 heterodimer composed of an α chain (CD8α) and a β chain (CD8β); and (ii) a homodimer of two α chains. The heterodimer is found on the surface of essentially all thymocytes and the “suppressor/cytotoxic” subpopulation of mature T lymphocytes. Subsets of intestinal intraepithelial lymphocytes express CD8α without CD8β. It has been suggested that CD8+β- T cells mature extrathymically, while development of the CD8α+β+ population of T cells is thymus-dependent. CD8 acts as a coreceptor with MHC Class I-restricted T cell receptors in antigen recognition and positive selection of MHC class I-restricted CD8+ T cells. In vivo and in vitro treatment with the 53-6.7 monoclonal antibody effectively depletes CD8α+ cells. The 53-6.7 monoclonal antibody also blocks allogeneic help specific for class I MHC antigens and T cell responses to IL-2.

Description:   CD4 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on most thymocytes and the helper/inducer subpopulation of mature T lymphocytes of all mouse strains tested. CD4 has also been detected at low density on pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells, bone marrow myeloid precursors, and intrathymic lymphoid precursors. The CD4 antigen functions as a co-receptor, interacting with class II major histocompatability complex (MHC) molecules in the recognition of foreign antigens by T cells. In vivo and in vitro treatment with the GK1.5 monoclonal antibody effectively depletes CD4+ cells. GK1.5 also blocks helper T cell responses to MHC class II antigens, including cytolysis, proliferation, allogeneic B cell help, and release of lymphokines.

Description:   CD24, also known as heat stable antigen, is a phosphatidylinositol-linked cell surface glycoprotein that is expressed at all stages of B cell development and on most thymocytes. The absence of expression from mature T cells is closely associated with their maturation from CD4+CD8+CD24+ thymocytes to either CD4+CD8-CD24- or CD4-CD8+CD24- T cells. CD24 is also present on mouse granulocytes, monocytes, Langerhans cells and erythrocytes. Its ligand is P-selectin (CD62P). CD24 may play a role in regulation of B cell proliferation and differentiation, and it has been proposed that heat stable antigen promotes homotypic adhesion between B lymphocytes.

Description:   CD45RB represents an exon B-dependent form of CD45 glycoprotein. It is expressed at high density on peripheral B cells, the suppressor/cytotoxic subpopulation of T lymphocytes, a subset of helper T cells, most thymocytes, and at low density on macrophages and dendritic cells.

Description:   CD62E represents the 97 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein E-selectin, also known as endothelial-leukocyte adhesion molecule-1 (ELAM-1). It is expressed on cytokine-stimulated endothelium, weakly on unactivated endothelium, and is absent on leukocytes. Like other selectins, CD62E is an adhesion molecule that contributes to the initial attachment and rolling of leukocytes on endothelial surfaces, a prerequisite for leukocyte extravasation into tissues. CD62P is a 140 kDa membrane glycoprotein formerly known as platelet activation-dependent granule membrane protein (PADGEM) or GMP-140. It is expressed on platelets, megakaryocytes, and epithelium. It is thought to mediate the adhesive interactions of neutrophils and monocytes with endothelium in inflammatory responses and of activated platelets to neutrophils and monocytes in hemostasis. The monoclonal antibody 1.2B6 recognizes a common epitope shared by CD62E and CD62P.
